Fighting, Pushing, Praying

£85.00

“Fighting, Pushing, Praying” forms part of my lockdown series and is a limited edition of 100 Giclee prints.

As these unprecedented times have prevented me from practicing the usual expression of my work, screen printing, I have been experimenting in a range of different media and producing a series original pieces. This has resulted in a new body of work which has been informed by the strange world we currently live in!

I like to tell stories and and aim to convey a narrative through a playful, bold style that expresses character and humour. This piece is a commentary on how we as a collective have responded to the Corona Virus epidemic, signifying our spirit and hope. From left to right the figures are fighting and pushing against the virus whilst the central character remains stoic and the figure on the right is a fearful yet hopeful. The characters are rendered in a unified, expressive style signifying our shared experience and the paradox how how despite our solitary confinement during lock down we are all connected.

The original piece is an acrylic painting. I love acrylic, the immediacy of it. It forces you to work fast and I love how you can play with the merging of colour and layering and am enjoying evolving my style which when I get back into the studio I will look to bring back to screen printing through mono print!

I will produce 100 copies only and each is signed and numbered on the front.

This print is available in A3 size and is supplied unframed.
